What is 30 on 30?

I turn 30 in April 2009. Completing 30 years is a milestone that deserves to be celebrated differently. Initially, I had plans of taking a month long break and travel across India. However, I'm currently in United States for work and cannot go ahead with that plan. So, I've come up with 30 on 30 - a project that will make my 30th birthday memorable for me and for anyone who participates in this project.

I live with a dream that I will bring a change in my motherland - India. The magnitude of the change is not important for me, what is important is the fact that a change should be initiated. This project gives me the confidence in the fact that I can find ways to bring a change, I can collaborate to bring a change, and I can spread enough word around that makes people think about bringing a change.

30on30 was a huge success ! Something that I wished for and was secretly hoping for, but did not expect !!!

About 30 on 30

Why do I call it '30 on 30'?
The project is called 30on30 because it essentially focuses on raising at least 30,000 INR for a cause - For Child Education and Rights - by selling 30 of my photographs online. The fact that I am doing this on my 30th birthday which falls in a month that has 30 days makes the 30 on 30 a bit more interesting

100% of the funds raised through 30 on 30 would go to Sankalp, a project of ASK and is based out of Moradabad. The only money I will keep would be the printing/shipping costs that are incurred.

How does this work?

You can go through all the photographs available for sale on www.30on30.net. If you like anything please write to me at prashantbhardwaj@gmail.com along with the details of the photograph and the ID that is mentioned on the photograph.

Each photograph is priced at Rs.1000 or US $25 (+printing and shipping at actuals) and is available for sale to multiple visitors. Most of these photographs have been evaluated to be sold for about Rs.7500 – Rs. 10000 (16” X 24”; Archival Ink Prints) or US $200 through Art Galleries or Exhibitions.

You would receive a 200+dpi print of size 12”X18”, along with a Certificate of Authenticity from me. These are limited edition prints and only 20 prints of each photograph would be made, out of which 10 would be sold through this page and rest otherwise.

The photographs would be available for purchase for a period of 30 days - April 1 to April 30, 2009.

Why Sankalp?

About Sankalp
Sankalp is a project based out of Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh some 250kms away from Delhi. It is working towards educating children who were once exploited in the Brass Industry. Sankalp recently completed 10 years and the change it has brought in the society around child rights and education is really commendable. What started with just as a center and a handful of kids now has 5 centers that support education of over 400 kids. Also the centers other than the main center are run by people from the community itself and it’s the women from the community who teach there.

My association with Sankalp
I've been associated with Sankalp for more than 2 years now. The transparency in the use of funds and efforts to build a self-sustainable model have brought this institute closer to my heart.

In June 2008, along with a few friends, I organized organized a painting competition for children at Sankalp, Moradabad. We collected Rs. 12500/- by selling those paintings through my blog. This money was sent back to Sankalp through their parent NGO ASK.
